At least, that was the intention that I had in mind when I started using the blog section here. Well, when I set it up. This is my first post, and it was definitely a time different to now, because I had to re-learn that this was even a thing.

So, hello. I'm Rhodey, formerly quite a lot of things, currently the human attachment to an Olympus camera, an ethereal voice from the Internet which talks about motorsport, and wielder of a virtual paint brush, steering wheel, and, if needed, sometimes a gavel in the world of sim racing. Also a power user of free Spotify, which is minorly distracting as I'm writing this, but there are some real bangers out there.

What's this for?

Well, we saw what the answer was at one point in time, and it may be there again in the future. But for now, you've got to walk before you can run. I've always had journalistic aspirations at points, and they'll provide one source, putting together photojournalistic pseudo-news pieces for my sim racing league Australasian Sim Racing for situations that I decide to get the camera lens out for. Another source is the past and any future story telling I do for The Online Racing Association, having contributed pieces previously for their digital and physical race programmes in 2021. It's also an opportunity to talk about my teams in both of those leagues when the moment strikes. Lastly, I do want to get out and chat to people in racing and tell some of their stories, and I'll probably have some of my own I feel like putting out there.

As for frequency, if I make a second post within the next 3 or so years, I reckon we've made a good start.

And, I think I'm going to make a habit out of showing one of my favourite photos at the end of a post that doesn't otherwise include a photo. So, to kick things off, here's a photo that kicked off a day, taken during the early morning on the Sunday of Round 1 of the 2019 Victorian State Racing Series. I had to leave home in the dark to get to Sandown Raceway in time to take this picture, along with a few others like it, and it was a good weekend, signalling my return to photographic coverage after the back end of 2018 became increasing occupied by commentary commitments.
